Islamic law can coexist with other religious beliefs? Reader thinks not.
Oct 9, 2011
Dear Editor,
I was deeply distressed by the opinion piece by Robert Hunt, Special Contributor (September 2, 2011, 9/11 Impact continues shaping U.S., religion).
Without presenting any evidence, Mr. Hunt claims that Islam is not a threat to America but merely a culture war scapegoat. If people like Mr. Hunt were in charge of national security, Bin Laden would still be alive and would have struck America again.
Mr. Hunt claims to be an expert on world religions and claims that there is ignorance about Sharia law. The person who is ignorant of Sharia law is Mr. Hunt. It is wishful thinking to believe that Sharia law can coexist with other laws. Sharia law is Islamic Imperialism manifested in the legal code. It follows the literal commands of the Koran in dispensing justice. It has no place in America.
My question is why did United Methodist Reporter print such a ridiculous piece?
Mr. Hunt's opinion amounts to Islam isn't a danger to the world, Christianity is a greater danger to the world. I expect better of the United Methodist Reporter. Check the news and see how many Islamic suicide bombers there are each day and see how many Jewish, Christian, Hindu, Wiccan, Scientologist, and Buddhist suicide bombers there are. Those statistics don't lie about which religion is the most dangerous.
A piece about 9/11 in the United Methodist Reporter should focus on the strengths of Christianity, and not be "kissing up" to a religion that directly led to the murder of 3,000 people on 9/11.
